Squara

Behind Squara

Squara is built and maintained by one person, not a company, and this section is where that shows. It's not a press-release feed - it's a running account of why specific decisions got made: why certain features exist and others deliberately don't, how tricky parts of the app (like settlement confirmation or edit permissions) were designed and why, and what's actually being worked on next, including the Android rollout.

If you're curious about the reasoning behind how Squara handles trust between users - why only the person who paid can edit an expense, why settlements need confirmation from both sides, why there are no ads or artificial limits on the free tier - the posts here go into that directly, rather than leaving it as marketing copy on the homepage.

This is also where roadmap updates and version releases get written up in plain language: what changed, why, and what it means for people already using the app. If you want the app's actual value proposition rather than the story behind it, the Expense Sharing category is the better place to start.
